Welcome to the Village of Clyde, NY web site.   We are very proud of our quaint downtown with its historic buildings and village square.  As you will see our history is a rich tapestry built from the Erie Canal and Railroad.

Please take a minute to visit our site and see what we have to offer.  Our good schools, great location, low crime rate, and affordable housing offer young and old a wonderful alternative to city living.  We welcome you and your family to visit our community during our Farmers Market Days, and antique car show days every last Thursday of the month throughout the summer and fall.  Take a boat ride down the Erie Canal and enjoy a picnic at our Lauraville Landing Park that meanders along the banks of the Canal.  Take time to visit our wonderful museums and gift shops as well.  If you are a boater along the canal we have docking facilities with electric and water.  The dock is a short walk over the bridge to our pharmacy, Laundromat, ATMs, package store, bagged ice, grocery store and fast food restaurants.  For your convenience our pizza shops will also deliver to the docks.

We are a village that is welcoming new entrepreneurial businesses and would be glad to help your businesses, large or small, find success here in our village.  We are ideally situated at the crossroads of NY routes 31 and 414 and only eight miles from the NYS Thruway and NYS route 104.  Our scenic country living with clean air and close proximity to the Audubon Center and Montezuma Wildlife Center makes us a great choice for individuals looking to start a business and raise a family.  Please check out our business opportunities page on this site.

We continue to look to improve our community.  Next year we will be undergoing a major change to our downtown business district with the installation of new period lighting, conduit, sidewalks with pavers and streetscape improvements.  We will be developing our history park in our downtown business district as well, to include tables, benches and landscaping with bricks purchased by families wishing to remember their ties with our village.  Our canal park, Lauraville Landing, will undergo a face lift with a picnic pavilion reminiscent of the train station that once stood there,  improved biking and hiking trails, fishing platform, and a children’s historical interpretive center.  These improvements only help to make us a gem along the Erie.

Again welcome to Clyde!  Please come often and stay long.
